Short term goals (what mentee plans to accomplish in several months):
Understand the daily activities of a high school Athletic Director. Game management and official scoring/timing.

Steps to take to meet short term goals:
Conducted office work with Mark including capturing historical data, scheduling, and student-athlete eligibility in the summer before fall sports began. Worked cross country meet, volleyball, soccer, football and basketball games as game assistant manager, game administrator, official timekeeper, and official score keeper.
Mentor’s suggestions/guidance for short term goals:
Although he had given me the freedom to essentially make my own schedule, it was necessary to make myself available for as many competitions as possible. Doing this would allow me to make the best of time and gain an understanding of the several issues that could arise.

Steps mentee will take before next meeting with mentor:
Work as many games as possible in any capacity. Update and maintain the school’s athletic website.

Medium range goals (1-3 years):
Apply and be selected for the supplemental position of Assistant Athletic Director.
​
Steps to take to get there:
As this position is supplemental, I first need to find a full-time position with the high school. This position could be a teacher or administrative staff.
​
Mentor’s suggestions/guidance:
The Assistant Athletic Director, Roger Achter, is retiring at the end of this school year. Roger’s position at the school along with the Assistant AD is the In-School Suspension Coordinator. Given my military background and my leadership and management skills, this position may be a good fit for me.
​
Long range goals (3-10 years):
Apply and be selected as the Athletic Director.
​
What options does mentee have to consider in order to reach those goals?
Accepting a full-time position with the high school regardless if I am selected for the positions or not.
​
Mentor’s suggestions/guidance for long range goals:
Even if I am not selected in my first attempt, maintain employment with the school as I will gain experience within the district for when the position becomes open again.
